Tips
for auditions
- Boys:
make sure your fly (that's zipper to you Americans) is done up.
Just in case.
- Drink
at least half a litre of water during the two hours before your
audition. Stops you getting a headache.
- Corollary
to #2: Go to the toilet just before your audition.
And
some tips on audition technique:
-
It's okay to run out of stuff to say - if you don't leave a gap.
Add "and that's about it..." or even better, "...and
I really can't think of anything else to say" and laugh awkwardly.
- Don't
sit on the end of the row of chairs. You'll go first or last.
That's bad, either way.
- Do
dress casually. Shirt and tie is definitely too overdressed. I
went in an (admittedly fairly smart) T-shirt and dark jeans
- others went in a smart shirt and trousers. In the end, it's
up to you, but make sure it's comfortable.
- Keep
eye contact. Don't look at the floor. On the flip side of that,
don't try and stare out the researchers!
- And
try not to "um" and "ah". Doesn't make good
television.
